I want to freelance my daughter for modelling? How do i get a work permit! ?
She is with an agency but doesnt seem to get much work and would like to make her her own website and Advertise her , Do i need to have a work permit ready incase she gets a job. ** It isnt pimping her. My daughter wants to do this and has her own bank accounts and All money would be hers! She is 8 yrs old.

It's like pimping, you chaperone her on jobs and take a big cut of the proceeds. Is she too young to legally work? If not then it's fine.

It's almost impossible to get modeling work if you are not part of an agency. If you are not happy with your daughter's current agency, your best bet is to go to their closest competitor. But read your contract carefully before you do. With a lot of contracts, even if you were to secure jobs on your own, they would still be eligible for their fees if you are on their books.

Get permit from the government. Here in the Philippines, We have the Department of Labor and Employment for people even under 18 to get permit in working. It depends on how the effort you have to go to different agencies and departments just to get her a working permit

How does it work if you work freelance and ask to be "taxed monthly?"- see explanation below.?
I work in the entertainment industry on a job to job basis, so I'm paid by many different payroll companies and can choose my exemptions per job. My monthly income varies, sometimes I make a lot, sometimes not so much. Am i being taxed as if I'm always making the larger amount? Some of my friends have started putting 'tax monthly' and they say there is a difference. Just not sure how it works. Thanks for your help!

They put "tax monthly" where? If they request to be paid monthly, then their tax would be based on their gross for that month, so wouldn't fluctuate as much as being paid weekly, for example, if the income varies a lot from week to week.

If I'm understanding correctly you fill out a new W-4 with each job and the taxes are held out based on what you file for each job. So, the taxes should be figured per company. For instance if one company pays you $500 one week and you have marked single with 0 exemptions then their payroll system should hold out the taxes required for a single person with 0 exemptions making $500 a week or $26,000 a year. Let's say another company pays you $1200 one week then their payroll system should hold out the taxes required for someone making that each week or $62,400 a year. I don't know what tax monthly means. There could be something that I'm missing here. I'd suggest you go to www.irs.gov and search tax monthly and see what you can find. Also, be sure these companies are holding out taxes and not treating you as an independent contractor or else you'll end up owing a lot when you file in April

I want to know what is the real difference between providing consulting services and just being a freelance? What is the difference if any in terms of skills, salary, responsabilities? Does any one knows where to look for consultant jobs?

Freelancer is the general term for someone who is self-employed (and gets 1099s instead of W2s). A consultant is a specific type of freelancer.

a freelance consultant is just someone who does the job independantly not as an employee of a company. What kind of consulting do you want to do ? There are people who consult on manufacturing processes, finances, IT, efficiency, advertising and almost every other business discipline that exists.

Freelancing is one way of being a consultant. The other way is to be employed with a consulting company. For eg, you may be employed full time by Accenture or Deloitte or any other consulting firm. You are paid like any other employee, so you get vacation, benefits and all the other normal perks The one major difference is that you have to travel extensively. Freelancing is more like self employment. You can form your own company, usually S corp (if only husband and wife are the employees) and provide services to companies just like any other consulting company and but you get paid directly the client. Freelancing is usually done by people who have more experience and/ or contacts. Its pretty hard to get gigs with less experience. You make more money freelancing simply because you are eliminating the middle man ( the consulting company). Also, there is more flexibility when you are a freelancer. What kind of consultant job are you looking for, there are many areas in consulting like IT services, Financial services, Supply chain management to name a few.

Are any of the online job offers real? If so, where can I find one?
I'm not specifically talking about the scams where they claim you can set up in ten minutes and make money for doing almost nothing, although that would be nice. I mean is there anywhere I can do actual work such as freelancing and actually get some jobs, or just make money any way online? Thanks a lot.

Very unlikely you will find it in this place. Try a jobs site, then ask the company if they accept work at home types. very likely they will say no. Best thing you could do is join a company, work for a year or more in the office, then, as your reputation grows and they trust you, you can ask to work a day each week at home; then after 6 months or so, ask for 2 days a week, and so on. There is no easy route to working at home - you have to prove value to the company first.

Be wary of any site, program, book, etc. that claims it's possible to make a lot of money with little effort. As much as we'd all love to believe it's true, assuming someone found such a system, why wouldn't they just use it for themselves? The truth is that they're making money from selling the system to you, not from the system itself. That said, you CAN make good money doing actual work freelancing, especially if you have a niche and specialized knowledge. Try writing for people's websites -- good freelance tech writers can earn $40+ per hour and up. Good luck

yes. Thy usually become very unstable though. The people i have met as they come out of such a lifestyle obviously have very poor interpersonal skills and are usually emotionally unwell. I know of people who live in shared houses who still have minimal contact with others. It seems like a very limiting and joyless way of living. I feel sorry for them.

Yes. We're all very connected technology-wise these days. We have telephones and the internet. I am disabled and can't get out so much but I am surrounded by critters and plants, and even before my illness never had any problem keeping myself amused. Some people actually can't (like my EX). They dread being alone - which tells me they're unhappy living in their own skin, always searching for distractions. We are only limited by our own imaginations: there are so many things to do from reading, writing articles/editing, to crafting to sewing to cleaning critter cages to washing pots and pans and cleaning bathrooms... its endless. Just thinking about cleaning tires me out! A person can be lonely in a crowd of people. Quantity is not necessarily quality.
