What companies are looking for home-based freelance writers and editors

What companies are looking for home-based freelance writers and editors?
I am a journalist from the biggest publication in Cebu, Philippines and I resigned from my work due to health reasons, though i still love my job. I'd like to ask what are that companies that are in dire need of on-line writers, encoders and editors who will work for them through the internet, since I'm advised to rest for atleast three months. Thank you and God bless!

Anyone know of any sites where I can find freelance IT consulting jobs for small companies

Anyone know of any sites where I can find freelance IT consulting jobs for small companies?

You could try GURU.COM They have a LOT of one-offs. Like all "consulting" jobs, a lot have a problem and no idea of what they need or what it will take to get it fixed. Some know EXACTLY what they need, but are on a TIGHT budget. I tried using them before, but I have NO experience in writing bids, estimating workload & time, etc... (And they don't do it for You), and there were a LOT of bids on the jobs I was looking at. Plus They want You to bill through THEM, not directly.

If you want to make money online and wanted to work from home, go for freelancing jobs. They are only one, that will pay you and its free to become a freelancer. The Internet has opened up many freelance opportunities, expanding markets and helping to build it into one of the largest economic segments for many economies. You dont need to pay to get the job. Development for freelancing has been especially high for software development, website design, information technology, and business documentation. Freelance practice varies greatly. Some require clients to sign written contracts<!--while others may perform work based on verbal agreements, perhaps enforceable through the very nature of the work. Some freelancers may provide written estimates of work and request deposits from clients. Get more information on the website. You can almost find any freelance job you want. http://freelancejobs.awardspace.com/ Payment for freelance work also varies greatly. Freelancers may charge by the day or hour, or on a per-project basis. Instead of a flat rate or fee, some consultants have adopted a value-based pricing method-->based on the perceived value of the results to the client. By custom, payment arrangements may be upfront, percentage upfront, or upon completion. For more complex projects, a contract may set a payment schedule based on milestones or outcomes.

I'm searching for an independant job, any ideas??

I'm all of those (freelance, artist, author and online store keeper) and I do make a living at it working every day. Suggestion: If you can write about topics you know a bit about, and you are good at finding excellent links and resources online, try blogging. For starters, check out Squidoo - it's free and easy to sign up and use. You can sell products from many places plus you can earn money from the Google ads they automatically add to the "lens" as they call their topical blog pages.

Since many people office at home, they often find that they need publications designed. Although in theory they can design their own work, most of them really don't understand the programs and they end up with generic looking stuff. What I would do is look at local companies like Kinko's, Alphagraphics, UPS stores and see if they would be willing to post referrals for design work. You would need to have some examples available and you would need some advice on how to set rates in your area. If you are skilled at writing, you can also do this with designing resumes for people. There are a wide range of things that you can design-invitations, flyers, signs, pamphlets, ads-small businesses don't have the staff to do a good job on that kind of stuff. You would need to have the right kind of software and computer to be able to generate and distribute work. And I highly suggest you seek some legal help to work out a basic contract for any work that you do. Get it in writing. Early on in my career, I got stiffed for payment by some big companies simply because I trusted them.

Put your mouth over the spigot. Really! Capture the need at the source. You will be flush with work if you go down to the city hall and hang out by the office which issues new business licenses. They need EVERYTHING. You can;t possibly need more that a week or two of leads there. or if you are more comfortable online - troll gigs on craigslist.com.Referral work is one project away. Good Luck

It depends on what you're doing. You can advertise everywhere--craigslist, local grocery store, the newspaper, by mail, phone, or referrals. In order to get referrals though you must be willing to put a little money in to get your name out there and recognized. I would recommend craigslist and sending flyers out in the mail to other businesses depending on what you're trying to do--it'll be the cheapest mediums to work through. Good luck!

Keep you eye on the online job boards

How should I start as a freelance writer

How should I start as a freelance writer?
I am a shy, introvert person. I have little qualities beyond writing. I prefer indoors life so I am looking for some job to do from home, something creative. I hate routine... I think I write nice stuff, miniatures are my specialty... short pieces of poetry, prose sketches, rhymed lines... English is not my native language but I understand and use it quite well... I think... Could I use my writing skills somehow, in a simple way for a beginner? How should I start? Any advice would help. Thank you.

You could get in touch with a publisher, work on editing pieces of writing, see where you go from there.
2 :
The first step is to join a writing class or group. This will help you hone your skills and put you in touch with fellow writers. Usually people are happy to share their experiences and give tips. Sometimes classes have published authors or newspaper editors come to give guest talks. The second step is to obtain a copy of a book called "The Writers Marketplace" this will tell you what various magazines (which would probably be your major market), publishers and agents are looking for. Also consider entering as many writing competitions as you can find.
3 :
Find writing projects in http://www.scriptlance.com/?ref=ilyesoft . There are a lot of them, you can work at home and receive your payment. Good luck !
4 :
Your best route is to start subscribing to some writing newsletters and visit the accompanying sites to get an idea what is involved. It may take awhile to get established as a writer - perhaps years - before you build up a reputation and editors start to assign you work. You might consider taking some writing courses, grammar etc. You get affiliated with a local college, they may be able to refer you jobs under their job placement program. I also recommend getting a copy of The Writers Market and copies of the magazine The Writer's Digest, and The Writer. One newsletter is the The Obsessed Writers Group Newsletter. Visit the website at www.freewebs.com/obsessedwriters. There is a link on the home to subscribe to the 2x monthly newsletter.
5 :
Check out Associated Content. You can earn a little money for your stuff as well as network with other writers for help. http://www.associatedcontent.com

How do I start a freelance Web Design business

How do I start a freelance Web Design business?
I want to make simple yet good sites for clients as a side job. Only a couple a month. I wanted to know how I would do this in detail.

i dont know im not good with those things
2 :
Get a domain, get some people you trust. Get a plan, stick to it. :D
3 :
Start by making a page to showcase your work to prospective clients. If you need ideas of what to do, maybe offer to do your first job free, as an intern. Then you can put that on your resume as a reference.
4 :
What you are trying to do is not a simple task, and you're more likely to get a couple clients a year rather than every month, I can guarantee this. There's a difference between freelancing and starting an actual web design business. With freelancing, you can simply set up a website, create a nice portfolio of things you've designed/created in the past, and then look for clients. Post on forums, try out different websites. If you try, you eventually will find someone that will want to hire you with no strings attached. Starting a web design business, however, is different from freelancing. Starting your own business includes getting a legitimate name for you business, trademarking your business, filling out paperwork, and other garbage. That is, if you start a legitimate business and not just a stupid website that says your a business when you're really not. Freelancing or starting your own business in web design is not all peaches in cream. I've lost at least 30 jobs to outsource workers in India (how they even know how to get the jobs done right I will never know, or speak English for that matter). They work dirt cheap and people want to pay as less as possible for work. This is a huge problem with freelancing today. My best advice is find local business, in other words, don't look for clients on the web. You can meet people face to face, give them an honest price, and sometimes even avoid any contracts or paperwork. Get a local person that likes you and word may spread of your work. Try even doing some websites for free for people just to get a portfolio built up. Again, you will be lucky if you get 2 jobs in one year. It depends on how bad you push people to hire you, and if there is no bull crap involved in hiring you. Trust me, I've been trying to freelance for years and there's no steady money in it, even with programming and database.
5 :
except for a few local clients, people don't want simple. They do simple themselves. Like I said people in your hometown might contact you because you are local and they like to deal face to face but when you get out of town business they want ebay/youtube/facebook functionality for a few hundred dollars. The people that have a brain and are willing to pay usually don't call the little guy. Start by offering value to a customer. Now the customer's nephew who's 15 can make him a website but can you do it much better? and drive traffic to it? have you made a website that gets over 2000 unique visitors per month? over 15,000? Everyone and their brother does web design. Ask yourself what it is that you do that's better , then sell that.
