Wanting to freelance as a graphic designer... what do I do about taxes

Wanting to freelance as a graphic designer... what do I do about taxes?
I'm starting to do some freelance work on my days off from my normal job. What I'm most worried about is showing records of my earnings when tax time comes. I have no idea where to get started. Could somebody point me in the right direction? TIA!

Withhold 25% of your income that you earn from freelancing. Pay your taxes quarterly to the IRS. Hire a CPA to help you....that's the best thing you can do.
2 :
You are self employed or independent contractor. You will report your income and expenses on schedule C or C-EZ (Form 1040). This income is subject to SE tax at 15.3%. Read about self employed (or independent contractor) tax filing and payment of estimated taxes: http://taxipay.blogspot.com/2008/04/tax-filing-by-self-employed-sole.html
3 :
My biggest suggestion to every tax payer is to keep good and neat records, diaries, receipts, etc. Without it, you'll be in a big problem. Everything else will come with experience, i.e. finding a good tax professional and so on.

How to become a freelance writer for a magazine

How to become a freelance writer for a magazine?
What are the requirements for the job besides being skillful in writing?

First, create a portfolio of articles in your areas of expertise and interest. Next, write a letter through e-mail to the editors of newspapers / magazines, expressing interest that you want to contribute articles to their publications. Attach to the e-mail one or more of your best writing samples. If the editors like your writing, they will contact you. Don't worry, if there are any rejects, instead keep trying and you'll land freelance writing work. Of all the types of freelance writing, freelance technical writing perhaps gives you the greatest income. Interested? Find more info at: http://tinyurl.com/techl-writing

This site pays out daily so you can see right away that it works, and there's tons of proof on the site. http://tinyurl.com/gptforcash I use this site to make a little extra money online. There are endless ways to make money on this site including signing up for free offers, completing surveys and clicks, playing games against other members, competing in weekly lotteries, and much more. Signup is free, and unlike other sites that make you work to a minimum amount before they'll pay you, this site will pay you daily. You can get paid through Paypal, check, or you can use your earnings to order off of Amazon (anything you want) because this site is linked up to Amazon.com. If you're skeptical, number one, if this wasn't legit Amazon wouldn't partner with them. But if you're still unsure you can create an account and right there on the site is a chat room filled with real users, and even administration of the site so they can tell you just how this does work! You can also click anyone's user name in the chat to see their up to date earnings, check someone with gold status or above.

If by "tee" you mean a t-shirt, then go to zazzle.com. You can design shirts and then post them for sale and earn $$ on them.

Long ago I searched for the best job vacancy web sites. Finally I found the best website to find jobs vacancies. That is, http://www.gogglejob.com These are the reasons that I suggest www.gogglejob.com is the best website to find jobs vacancies. 1. It is totally free to find jobs. 2. You don't need to register. 3. You don't need to enter your personnel information to find the jobs. 4. You don't need to answer for boring questionnaire. 5. It is very easy to use. 6. All jobs vacancies are classified very logically in there and you just need to hit your interesting job. 7. It automatically detect your area and will be given jobs from your area. 8. According to my personal experience, it is very reliable and accurate and send the feedback to very quickly and amazingly. So isn't that interesting. I also found my job from that web site. Just go and check yourself for the success; http://www.gogglejob.com Please note that almost all other answers given are spams as they didn't say the reasons for their suggestions

As a recent college grad who majored in Journalism, what is the best way to jumpstart my career? I need a job

As a recent college grad who majored in Journalism, what is the best way to jumpstart my career? I need a job!
I have a little freelance writing experience, and I graduated from a great school in Ohio. The job market is pretty dry around my town, and I'm stretching to find entry level media positions. I can't seem to figure out where and how to start my career path in journalism (writing/editing).

I have two suggestions 1. Read The Well Fed Writer. It's a classic. 2. Visit the forum at http://www.aboutfreelancewriting.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl There are jobs posted there regularly and a supportive community. Maybe I'll see you there. :-)
3 :
I heard that if you are a pretty girl with your creditioals, be a weatherperson on TV. If you aint realy good to look at, then I have no idea. Good luck!
4 :
put your resume out there to any company newstation etc. There has got to be someone looking for a journalist. start http://www.ap.org/apjobs/index.html http://about.reuters.com/careers/ Two major news agencies.
5 :
wow are you really having that much trouble? I'm a senior in high school and I'm actually pursuing the same career as you. I think I might actually have a good idea for you even if I'm younger and you learned more. Go to this link:http://dir.yahoo.com/News_and_Media/Journalism/Organizations/?b=0. Explore it. OR maybe join a guild or association and they'll help you out! You're my hero! Good luck, tell us if we can read your work anywhere! :)
6 :
Apply to all of the big 3 letter agencies. Have two resumes one that markets you as a Journalist and one that markets you as a Research Analyst. Create a blog that gives you a creative reference. Also, you could search on Radio and TV stations in areas you would like to live then apply directly on their websites

How much experience do I need to be a freelance copywriter

How much experience do I need to be a freelance copywriter?
I'm thinking about being a freelance copywriter (part-time at first of course.) I'm a pretty good writer and I've taken lots of classes and have done lots of research but how much experience do you actually have to have before you start applying for jobs? One more thing, I do keep a blog for the company where I am employed full time, (not as a copywriter, I do other things) does that count for anything or should I not even mention it?

Everybody has to start somewhere, so go ahead and apply. I'd suggest a cover letter or email expressing your interest and being honest about your lack of experience. Any samples of your writing you can supply would be helpful; I'd definitely mention the blog, as you can give the address for it and the person can check it out if they like. A couple of pieces of advice about freelancing: make sure you can discipline yourself to work and meet deadlines--meeting deadlines is at least as important as the quality of your work. Keep track of everything and remember that whatever rate you are being paid should cover your taxes (including a big bite for SS taxes) and other expenses that an employer might cover (e.g., health insurance, retirement savings
