I want to apply for Unemployment Benefits in NYS but dont know if Im going to qualify ???
I was laid off 5 days short of being employed for 6 months AND After I was laid off (January 12) I have been working a full-time freelance job but this job ends this week. If anyone also knows a direct number to call let me know! I kept trying to call and go through phone menus but couldnt find anything about where to call to see if I was eligible. Thanks.

Writing Sample? (freelance writer)


Writing Sample? (freelance writer)?
So I've just started looking for freelance writing jobs, and so many recruiters ask for writing samples. Is the writing sample the same as a writing sample for a regular job? Or is it a sample of your narrative/short stories. (I've been doing creative writing) How long should it be? 1 page, 10 pages? 500 words? 100 words? Thank you!

Hi A&I - each interview is going to be different. Your best course of action is to have multiple writing samples available. Then if your interviewer wants one page you have a page, if it is 10 then you have ten. I suggest researching the company some and see where their main interest lies and use that. But to best be prepared call and ask - being prepared is going to be an excellent point to your advantage. And researching the requirement shows that you are proactive and interested in the position

Do you think a teenagers are competent in online writing jobs?
Our school year had just ended and I would like to earn money this summer. I had searched for "online writing jobs" (freelance) and they accept teenagers. I am 14 year old and I write for our school paper. I also write poems and stories. I am got an award as the "Writer of the Year" and had several recognition as a writer (in our school). I got an approval from my parents in applying in such job. But I am still quite undecided because I know the competition is tough. Should I push through?

absolutely. You will never know unless you try. You might want to focus on which online writing jobs you'd like to take and if necessary send them a sample of your writing. That way when the school year ends you can just seamlessly start working and make some money. Good Luck

I want to start building a credit history, what credit cards are best for someone that has 0 history and is working a freelance job? Applying over and over wont look bad? I have full intentions of paying them off of course, I only plan to spend what I actually have. I just think a credit card is the easiest way to get credit in my situation.

If you insist ~ apply for a Visa card and promise that you'll pay the balance each and every month and NEVER pay a cent of interest. Promise me !! Rent the DVD called " Maxed Out" and hopefully that will spoke you into being well with a credit card.

Do not apply for more than one credit card because it shows up on your credit report as multiple credit inquiries, which looks bad in the eyes of creditors. Compare credit cards before you apply and find a sigle card that fits your needs. If you have no credit history then seek out a credit card with a low amount of available credit, or a secured credit card. If you happen to be a college student, you have an increased chance of being approved for a student credit card
