job in fashion without a fashion degree?
am thinking about transitioning my career into the fashion industry. Trouble is, I am 30 years old, and have little experience in the field. I've worked in retail and as a freelance journalist, and I have a BA with a minor in art, and an MS in marketing. I'd like to work for a company like People's Revolution doing PR, but I can't really afford a third degree. What's the best way to approach a career shift like this one?

Well, at least you don't have the debt load of wasting four years in "Fashion School". Fashion is an unstable industry with mostly dead-end, low-pay, high pressure jobs. You really ought to consider more honorable alternatives such as Taco Bell.

As you may realize, the fashion industry is extremely competitive. For general career info: http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search 'fashion designers' or such. If considering even taking some courses in the field, this site has college-level accredited programs: http://nasad.arts-accredit.org Just fyi to please forgo those private $$ for-profit tech schools such as the 'art institute' since there are a lot of complaints at this consumer site: http://www.ripoffreport.com and can search. For US colleges: http://www.utexas.edu/world/univ
