What are some good ways to get started as a freelance writer

What are some good ways to get started as a freelance writer?
I have been interested in a while, and just want to do it for my own satisfaction (it will not be my sole or even a major source of income). I have only a few small publishing credits (poetry) and would like to get involved more in nonfiction/aricle writing. Can anyone recommend some good sites or other sources that list jobs/submission guidelines that are reputable and good for beginners? Again, I'm not in this for the money, to get a ton published or to be a famous big time writer...just looking to expand my writing hobby (and the training I've gotten through my writing minor) as it is something I enjoy and am fairly decent at. I will take your scenario into consideration, as our educaitonal system is in the same boat.

Run, run like hell. Trust me on this. I am freelancing with seven years of experience under my belt and there is just nothing worth pursuing anymore. People don't care to pay writers what they rightfully deserve and amateurs with no clue what they're doing are all too willing to accept Wal-Mart greeter wages for their efforts. Believe me, it's an insult to those who have spent years honing their craft. If you are set on it though, browse Craigslist for small projects. I emphasize small because your lack of experience may be a detriment. Just please, please, PLEASE do not be one of those writers who will accept $5-10 for an article. At minimum you should be asking at least $50 an article and even that is low. I have been told Associated Content is decent but I am not completely sold. It's not easy out there for writers with clout and a decent portfolio these days. We're being overrun by hacks who have no business writing. And yes, I am a bit miffed and a bit bitter but for damn good reason.

There are many different options for someone trying to break into the writing business. These websites could help. Oboulo.com is a publicly authored, publicly accessible database covering a wide array of topics. Each time you publish a paper, article, presentation etc. on the website, you will receive $15.00 in royalties. Create an account and enter ambassador # 9590ba to earn $15 per published article. After connecting to the site, you will be asked to enter an ambassador number. By entering ambassador# 9590ba you'll receive $15 per document published. This is a good place to start to get your name out there and some published articles under your belt. Next, go to the Associated Content website and sign up as a writer. Submit as many articles as you can. The payment varies, but they are generous. Good luck!

hi The best site I have found for guidance on getting involved with freelance writing is: www.thewritingmercenary.com There are 100s of ways to make money from writing, and 100s of different approaches getting where you want to be. This site covers a lot of them. As a freelancer myself, I agree with the first answer in that writers don't get paid a whole lot.... but if a product is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, then it seems odd for the producer to decide on the market value. The trouble is that there are more writers than gigs, so the mean price drops. c'est la vie.... Go for it. If writing is your passion then be passionate about it..... all the bes

if u have a vehicle you can drive around ur neighborhood look at peoples garbage, or look for job sites that have container on them most contractors will allow you to go through the debris and take the metal. once you have some metal look in the yellow pages for scrap metal yards in the area. go to the yards u get weighed w/ the material and get paid right their. same w/ junk look around for junk and you could sell it on ebay, craigslist or in the classified ads of newspapers. if you have room to store all of the things u find have a garage sale. the other thing about metal is when u get to the scrap yards u might want to separate the material some metals such as copper and aluminum are worth different prices than steel metal or Lead. also electrical wires are worth money, lawn mowers, bicycles, fencing, refrigerators, air conditioners, dish washers, dryers, ovens etc etc all are valuable. also check the pricing at different scrap yards some pay more than others for certain materials

Freelance writing for high schoolers

Freelance writing for high schoolers?
I am a soon-to-be Sophmore in high school, and I'm one of the many teenagers searching for a summer job. I have a hard time getting rides to places because of my parents' full time jobs, so I know that whatever I do it will have to be very close to home. I love to write, so what better to suit my circumstance than an online freelance writing job? The only problem with that is, I don't know where to look. I've tried Craigslist and all of the people advertising there need people with experience and college degrees. I am an established writer, especially for my age, and I want to be able to use that to my advantage. Any ideas?

IMHO the best way to earn money with your fiction is to write a boring, safe, generic novel (i.e. romance, murder mystery, true life experiences, biography, attack the catholic church, etc.) or to write short stories. Trying to write the next breakout novel is fine but novels usually take several months and often you'll find that no one is interested. Novel publishers are interested in what they know and what they know will sell and make them money so they often won't venture in to unknown territory. Poetry? Don't even think about it. It's hard to get it published and when you do manage to get it published you often get very little if anything at all. If you want to be a poet then do it because you love it. There's not really any other reason. Scriptwriting? Try it if you want... it'll certainly give you a new perspective on dialogue... but the world of scriptwriting is mired in money, connections and small time politics. Unlike other types of writing, with sciptwriting; your finished MS is NOT the finished product and that can restrict your creativity. So I'd recommend short stories. Write 5 or 6 and send them off to an agent who works with short fiction. Expect rejections - YOU WILL BE REJECTED at least several times! That's normal! If it goes well; try making a book of them. Even James Joyce used a book of short stories (Dubliners) to get his foot in the door! You won't be earning megabucks like you hear established novelists getting... but 99% of novelists don't get that either. 99% of novelists probably give up because they can't get published. By writing short stories you are more likely to earn a small sum of money. Try it... if you fail then at least you only wasted a few hours

Freelance Writing Opportunities

Freelance Writing Opportunities?
Hey all, I am a sixteen year old and I wanted to know if there was a chance I could get any freelance writing jobs. I'm pointing out that I'm sixteen because I can't move anywhere, take on a full time job, I don't have any sort of degree (obviously), et cetera. So, my question is: Does anyone know of a good site informing people of opportunities for people in my position? Creative writing is best. Also: What about magazines or something that 'sponsor' freelance fiction? Is that an option? Right now I'm not interested in money (Well, not *really*), but rather getting some experience. Note: I tried a search but my search - fu is lacking. Thanks Mara; those are some great sites! Chris; thank you for the answer although I had already found that site. :/ It's more for adults looking for work.

You could try http://freelancewritinggigs.com There's a slew of other employment opportunity there too.
2 :
1. http://liminaljournal.com/ Liminal Journal does "poetry, fiction, nonfiction, book and music reviews, photography, artwork and short film," according to the website homepage. I recently submitted a poem to be in the first edition, and it got in. It's both online and print. 2. http://www.fictionpress.com/ FictionPress is, um, a place to put your fiction. 3. http://www.polyphonyonline.org/ Polyphony is for literature and art. It's very cool.
3 :
Try The Frugal Freelancer blog - http://frugalfreelancer-freelanceliving.blogspot.com/ - scroll down to the bottom of the page and take a look at the niche sites. Also, sites like Suite101, allow writers to choose their topics. Also, try to query magazines that target children and teens. The only problem you may have is getting paid, but maybe one of your parents can help out with that part. Many online writing outlets do not send checks, they pay through Paypal. Good luck.
4 :
you will need to sign up for freelancing websites such as scriptlance etc and build a good profile and a good portfolio page start submitting proposals continue submitting proposals upto the win and win some jobs to win a job as a fresher is difficult but you can try more and more and finaly find some one who willing to give their work to freshers

Are there any interesting things that I can do with programming

Are there any interesting things that I can do with programming?
I've looked at the freelance jobs out there but they do not appear to be interesting. I've had experience building several programs, automated data collection, games, artificial intelligence, cryptography, and some experience analyzing malware. Overall, I'm very dissatisfied with the industry... Is there anything interesting or creative that I can do? I'm think the games industry appears to be nice, but... I don't know.
Programming & Design - 5 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
You could build some kind of security software with knowledge about security, cryptography. Besides that you also have some knowledge about AI and Games, which means you can also make games which are AI based... Its not dull industry as it looks. Work for something which is open source, get yourself site like Sourceforge or Codeplex and it will help you build your software as lot of opensource developers exists there and if you make something great, chances are you will land up as a good freelancer too :) All the best.
2 :
Maybe you invent a better algorithm for some intractable problem, or for lossless compression or something. You could get your name on it. When I was in school I used to think, golly, wouldn't it be cool if there was a way to make an iterative function for any given file that would spit out that file as output as you solved the function over and over beginning with some trivial seed? Yeah that's about the kind of stupid idea I'm likely to come up with. Probably explains a lot.
3 :
you can program software like repair it and see what went wrong :)
4 :
yes. you can. can u tell me how to multiply 2 10000 digit number?? if you have any ideas, get back to me @ poramboku.me@gmail.com
5 :
Depends on what you call interesting. I've written software that flies airplanes; I've worked on a team that wrote software to automate an oil refinery; I've developed websites; I've worked on teams that developed sales force automation software; and much more. You could develop software that could put man on Mars; develop the next generation of robots that could disappear into the human race and be indistinguishable from actual people; you could create the next marketing bonanza such as pixel ads did a few years ago; you could develop software to replace Facebook with something that worked so much better, faster, and less invading of privacy; you could develop software to that correctly models the climate.... there are hundreds of thousands of possibilities. But the real question is what do you LIKE to do? And how can you use technology to achieve your hopes and dreams? It seems that you're approaching the whole thing from the wrong perspective. If you start with a hammer and ask, what can I do with this hammer, then the answers you get aren't going to be meaningful or interesting. But if you start with a dilemma that is near and dear to your own heart, and ask how to you solve this dilemma? Then you're likely to get answers that will intrigue you and interest you. And you may discover that the solution may be software or it may be something else all together. The choice is yours

A freelancer, freelance worker, or freelance is somebody who is self-employed and isn't committed to an employer for too long. So it not an area of specialty, it can be in any subject. Almost anybody can be a freelancer in their own area of work.
2 :
freelancing can be anything as long as your self employed. I am a freelancer with affiliate marketing and what i do is promote Global Domains International. It takes some time to figure out what you want to do as a freelancer , but once you do and start doing research on what you want to do then you have the potential to become rich. note that i said potential though, freelancing takes dedication and willpower. you have to create your job from the ground up in most cases. if your any interested in the program im in you can visit my website at getcashnow39.ws most people think affiliate marketing is a pyramid scheme but they are the same people tho were too lazy to actually put fourth effort in the program and just ended up losing their money. In actuallity it is spider-web-marketing and Multi-level-marketing put together to promote a business and provide you an excellent opportunity for extra income

would this be considered a job for my resume

would this be considered a job for my resume?
I'm trying to write my CV I just filled in all my volunteer work, now i'm at the job section. I'm a freelance makeup artist, I've been doing some freelance work (makeup artist for events and such) would that be considered a job to put on my resume or should I leave it out? I'm also hoping to get a job somewhere in the cosmetology field: probably in retail for now, at a counter or something. i'm 16, 17 in about a month never had a job. only babysat i charge though =/

yes.u can put it on ur resume as volunteering experience
2 :
Yes, you can definitely put it as a job, it was a job after all! Seeing as you were freelance, you obviously can't put who you worked for, but I'd recommend that you give some examples of places that you worked, and some of the events. You can put the babysitting as well though, because although that's not official 'work', it is still something that you're paid for, and it still proves that you have qualities like having to have good communication skills and are able to take responsibility - which an employer will look for when recruiting people for a job! Hope this helps. x
3 :
Everything counts! Even if your going for a IT job you still need to put down past jobs that don't relate (the IT thing was just an example), it's not just about them seeing what related jobs you have had it's about the whole experience, getting a job means you have independence and they can rely on you to turn up to work. Also it means you have had experience of the "real world" and all of these things contribute to getting a job, your boss would feel happier knowing you can do all of these things. So yes you should definitely put it down and any other experiences in life that you think would help. =]
4 :
I would not recommend you put that down on your Job history section. Especially if your not a licensed Makeup artist in your state. I would put that down in your Volunteer section of your resume

What is the best way to word freelance work on a resume

What is the best way to word freelance work on a resume?
I am interviewing for investment banking jobs and my latest employment experience is independent DJ work that I did on the side through college. Its completely unrelated to finance, but it is my most recent experience. Should I include it? If so, what would be the best way to word it?
Financial Services - 2 Answers

You could put-- Independent Contractor, Music Production Highlight the qualities that you exhibited pertaining to the current position you're seeking. Hope this helps :)
2 :
Whether or not you include it depends on what other qualifications you have. If you have previous experience that is related, you may want to leave that job off, or at least put it at the bottom under a heading like "Additional Experience" or "Freelance Experience." Ideally, the qualifications you possess that are most relevant to the job you're applying for should be at the top, whether it's education, training, experience, language skills, certifications, etc. Good luck! Good question because right now there are teenagers making huge amounts of money with their blogs. They have the time, the friends and the network to attract a lot of visitors to their blogs. With adsense on their sites they know that teenagers are happy little clickers causing a tidal wave of money in earnings.

I recommend Forever Living Products - you can do as many or as few hours as you like and typically on 1-2 hours a day you will earn £1200 per month after 5 months and £30-£40k per year after 2-3 years - if you do more hours you should get more. They are a $2 billion company growing at 25% per year and need a lot more people - no investment required also, regulated by Dti and Office of Fair trading and have investors in people award also. link is: www.efi-international.com

Which would be a better job

Which would be a better job?
I'm moving to Taiwan, and currently thinking of 3 options as my career there: 1) Find a food industry and get a job as QA/lab technician (as I hold a Food Technology degree), but I have stopped working in this field for the past 3 years. 2) Get a CELTA certificate there and look for job as English Teacher (I'm not English native speaker though and never had any teaching experience) 3) Do freelance English-Chinese translation jobs at home Which of those jobs would be easier to approach and promise better pay/future? Please advise! Thank you!

1) wud b a better future 2) so so 3)easier to approach
2 :
Freelance teaching would be good money, but only when the work is there. I'd go option 1 as they'll always need food with the growth of industry/tourism/population
3 :
its really up to you. choose something that you feel you are good at but also something that you'll enjoy. you can't go in their thinking that as long as it pays good, cos then you may only like it for that. you need to take on the positive and easier approach that will leave you feeling pleased with yourself for taking on that job position
4 :
You are going to have tough competition in the three fields. My suggestion is to pursue the tech job and the translations at teh same time. It htere is time availble get the CELTA as a back up. You may find a niche in teaching /translating ih the food technology area.
5 :
I think you need to first figure out what is your passion. Then evaluate which of the above option offers you, job security, career advancement, job satisfaction and most importantly financial security.
6 :
You have not given us enough information to answer your question. The appropriate answers would depend on your nationality status and marital status. In general, under Taiwan law, you would be classified into one of four categories: (1) Taiwan citizen with ROC ID card and passport, (2) ROC national with ROC passport but with no ID and no Household Registration for the Taiwan area, (3) the holder of PRC citizenship and PRC passport, or (4) a foreigner. The laws regarding work rights would be different in each case, and would also depend on your marital status. That would come back to a consideration of which of the four categories above your spouse fit into. Obviously, a person married to a spouse of category #1 could expect to obtain the most liberal work rights. I suggest that you visit the legal forums of forumosa.com/taiwan/ for more details

What job title should I give myself

What job title should I give myself?
I'm starting a home-based research & consultancy business. My background is in market research and I'll be developing some research reports on a freelance basis. I don't want to give myself a grandiose title like CEO or Managing Director when it's a one-man operation. Research Consultant perhaps, but that was my title when I was fresh college graduate. Any other ideas?

2 :
Put - "Owner" by your name
3 :
Why not simply "Consultant?"
4 :
How 'bout Professional Research Consultant
5 :
I would keep it simple and call yourself a Research Consultant. It is accurate, direct and to the point. Your primary function, as far as your clients are concerned is as a RC. Makes the most sense. Besides in the business world everyone has a useless title that is merely a reflection of the specific function. As a one man show, or a small house agency why would that be necessary?
6 :
It depends on the illusion you are trying to present to your potential clientele. If you are targeting business owners, CEO, VP, CFO then Owner is a good idea. If you are targeting big business with Department Heads then you want a humble title like Market Engineer/Director or something to that affect. Do you want everyone to know you are a one man op? Or do you want the illusion that you are a successful company that can meet anyone's demands?

How can I land this job (ad sales -- newspaper

How can I land this job (ad sales -- newspaper)
I have worked writing for newspapers -- both articles and ads. I have lots of experience writing marketing copy for various freelance clients. I am Brainbench certified in advertising industry knowledge and business communications. I worked as an assistant in a TV ad department. I NEED this job even though my husband doesn't think it's the right job for me. I don't care we NEED one of us making a full time income. We both have suspended licenses from being unable to pay our fines because of employers not paying us earlier. Our self-employment isn't cutting it, partly because hubby can't get to jobs until I pay off his fines. I emailed my resume this morning and within a couple of hours she emailed me back and called me hoping I could meet her tomorrow morning. Hubby does NOT want me at this job because he thinks it will be too stressful. I am bipolar and do react poorly to stress but I have a lot of gifts and talents to bring to this job and I know I could do well. Any ad reps able to help me nail the interview questions?

Nailing the interview isn't the question, but can you handle the job if you got it is. If you have the experience and knowledge, a good personality and dress professionally you'll do fine. To prepare for the interview google interviews and/or interview questions. As a writer I'm sure you can articulate well when speaking. But there is no one answer to nail an interview if you do the obvious right. You can have all the experience, credentials, personality, professionalism in the world, but for some reason the interviewer doesn't like you so you don't get the job, you just have to do your best you can. I'm a recruiter, so just do well and you'll do fine. Good luck

What are the best freelance sites and is this a realistic way to earn a living?
I am struggling to find work on a full time basis and have started looking at other avenues for potential earning. Could anyone point out the best websites for general short term jobs. how about regeristing with an agency. Angency work can cover all sorts and they find you temp jobs and keep you on the records. Freelance work is for more specialist areas, so for instance you could be a freelance photographer or lighting designer. If you went with an agency they would employ you and thereofre they would sort out all your taxes. however if you were a freelancer you would have to do all you own tax returns and declare yourself as self employed. A quick search on google found this http://www.jobs1.co.uk/ maybe you want to have a further search

Hi , One my partner is in UK. He too struggle with similar situation some 3 years back. Now he got settled himself as a freelancer. So entering into freelance network is quite easy but getting jobs and working needs some hard work and patience. My view on freelancing site. http://www.guru.com - big site - suitable for big players. http://www.greatlance.com - avg one You can get all small type of projects and big too. Its good to start career. This is the 2 sites i use for my business. But make sure you pay some hard work on this area. Its sure you will get some good results. Tax issue: Now days : Freelancer are forced to pay tax. But as for as i know we have not paid any tax as of now. Since at initial stage we don't have enough money to cross the tax paying border. Its always good to meet auditor to get enough info

Do freelance workers get paid

Do freelance workers get paid?
I was offered a job and it is freelance, will i get paid?
Small Business - 4 Answers

1 :
If you mean a regular weekly paycheck, then no. Essentially you get paid for the work you submit and they accept.
2 :
Freelance workers work for themself (as far as I know). so yes, you will get paid, if you are able to attract paying customers, however If you are unsuccessful at attracting customers, you will not get paid at all.
3 :
By working as a freelancer, you are establishing yourself as a self-employed person without a long-term commitment to any particular employer. You did not state what type of work you would be doing on a freelance basis. Many writers, photographers, marketers, and independent contractors work on a freelance basis, selling their writings, photographs, marketing skills, etc. to various different types of companies and/or publications. I would be more able to give you a specific response if you were to state what type of freelance work you would be doing. It should be noted that, as a freelancer, you are responsible for paying your own withholding taxes, unemployment insurance contributions, social security contributions, etc. You are NOT an employee...you are, instead, an independent contractor. Will you get paid? It all depends on the agreement you have with the individual who offered you the "job". As a freelancer, it is highly recommended that you enter into a WRITTEN contract with whoever you are freelancing for to assure that payment is received and that all specifications and requirements of the freelance assignments are covered.
4 :
u will get paid as long as they have job for u. when they do not need u - u re gone. this is the difference of freelance and regular job- at regular job u just sit there and get paid. also u have paid holidays and sick days. when u re freelance - no ill days, no paid vacations

I don't know where you are from, but here in NY there is a Goodwill program that evaluates and then places disabled people at jobs that they can succeed at that they could handle. For your brother, it could be a low stress part time job with a mentor or social worker that can both support him and advocate for him on days when he needs to miss work. CHeck woth local social service agencies for starters. Hope your brother feels better.

Well my boyfriend wants to be a sort of psycholgist himself. and he's schizophrenic. i have faith in you . . . have faith....anything you put ur heart on, you can do, no matter what even the doctor says

How do I pay tax for a part time translation job

How do I pay tax for a part time translation job!?
I have a part-time translation job (freelance) and made about $3,500. I just received a check but nothing is deducted like federal tax or state tax etc. How do I pay tax from those income? Full time job, taxes are already deducted on the check and they give me W2 in the end of the year, so I just take it to the H&R etc. All I know I have to claim this income in the end of this year but what else I have to do? Sorry I am new with the side job and I am not familiar with tax situation in U.S. I'd be glad if anybody does translation job as a part-time and give me advices about tax. Thanks.

You'll file a Form 1040 return and show the self-employment income on Schedule C along with any legitimate business expenses. If the net is over $400 then you must attach Schedule SE to figure the self-employment tax. The SE tax is calculated at roughly 14.1% of the net profit. Any income tax will depend upon your total income. If you're in a 15% bracket (pretty typical) then you'll need to set aside 30% of the net for taxes. Ideally you should make an estimated tax payment using Form 1040-ES http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1040es.pdf by Sept 15th. If you have no other SE income for the year the one payment will be sufficient.
2 :
If you're going to Block, take along the 1099-misc the company should send you, or your records of what you made if they don't send you a 1099. Also take your records of any associated expenses you had. Your freelance income will go on a schedule C, and you'll also use a schedule SE. The numbers from the two schedules will go on a form 1040 (not EZ or A) along with the info from your W-2.
3 :
The tax laws do not distinguish between part-time and full-time work. They do distinguish between work as an "employee" and work as an "independent contractor". Your full time job (but not all full time jobs) are work as an employee. Your part time work (but not all part time work) is work as an independent contractor. Income from work as an independent contractor must be reported as "business income" on either Schedule C or Schedule C-EZ. In most cases, self-employment tax must be paid in addition to ordinary income tax. H&R Block can figure out the amount of tax when you go to them. You must keep track of the amount of money that you receive. You should receive a 1099-MISC that you can bring to H&R Block; if you do not receive it, then you must use your own records to document how much you made. Also, you must send an "estimated" amount of tax money to the government, rather than waiting until it is time to file. Download Form 1040-ES from http://www.irs.gov and use it to calculate how much to send.
4 :
Firstly you should go to IRS.GOV and get a free Pub 17 for lots of "show & tell" intel on your tax setup. For tax year 2009 you will have to file a form 1040 and include your self employment income on a Sch C; with a Sch SE for your FICA/MEDICARE tax. On the Sch C you put your gross income of $ 3,500; then under expenses put down any expenses relating to this self employment income; mileage at rate of 55 cents a mile, to and from job, cabs, parking fees, cell phone, notebooks, office supples, continuing education or training, business meals while away from home working, lodging, read up on this in the Pub 17. You may have grossed 3.5K but the bottom line may even be a loss depending on your expenses. Good luck

I have an English Literature degree from Zayed U. I'm a 20-something Emirati woman. What job should I get?
It should be home-based, too. Ideally, the job would entail writing columns for a magazine/newspaper, writing fiction or poetry. It can be freelance or contract-based, it doesn't matter to me. I'm really in a slump because I spent five years at Zayed University and now I really want to write but don't know where to start, who to turn to. What publications pay the best? Should I write in English or Arabic? I need help!

You can get in touch with the leading English as well as Arabic newspapers mainly Gulf News, Khaleej Times, Gulf Today and in Arabic Al-Khaleej, Al Bayan, Al Ittehad by mail or in person. Meet the guy/woman who is in charge of Opinion or edit pages or any of their magazine in charge, show him/her what you plan to write about and if possible what you have written in the past. if you have this strong urge to write, you must not let this thing die out. You can contribute to any of the papers mentioned above by sending them your coverage of any event like fashion show, food festival or any other happenings in the city or story etc. Tell you something, until and unless you are a top-notch writer, you are not paid well for your contribution. There is just this big satisfaction that your name has appeared along with your column or you felt satisfied in putting your message across. For further information and possible discussion you can get in touch with me by e-mail. All the best

Can dance be a substitute for exercise

Can dance be a substitute for exercise?
I really need to lose weight. The problem is, I have trouble finding the time and motivation to exercise. I'm not a morning person so morning exercise is out of the question. I'm lucky if I can get ready and out the door on time. At night, I have freelance jobs I work on. I do, however, pop in a Martin & Lewis video (movie, colgate hour, etc.) to relax and wind down enough for bed. There are some vaudville tap dance/dance routines that they do at the end of colgate hour. There are also a couple routines in some of their movies. I thought about making a DVD with these routines and adding The Charleston. In place of exercise, I would do these routines since I have so much fun with them. Would this give me as much benefit as normal aerobic exercise or less benefit?

ok, quick and easy - park at the farthest corner of the parking lot at work and walk. evening, use the bean to watch tv and keep moving on it. do floor exercises while watching tv. use hand weights to strengthen your arms. And yes dance can substitute to exercise, so turn those tunes up loud and go for it!
2 :
Definately!
3 :
thats works just make sure you eat right and do ti for atleast 30 min.
4 :
Of course, any exercise is good exercise.. and like you said its fun and keeps you motivated Good luck
5 :
of course it will. also dance can be fun and considerably easier than exercise becuase you are just having so much fun and working all of your body parts without thinking.
6 :
Dancing is great exercise, but it needs to be kinda vigorous to become aerobic... Remember you are trying to get your pulse up and keep it up for at least 20 minutes to enter the aerobic state... The more out of shape you are, the easier it is to get there... I used to be 200 pounds overweight and walking a mile in 20 minutes was enough to get me into an aerobic state (for me a pulse of 140 was the goal, but 120-130 did the trick). Look up aerobic exercise on google for info on how high your pulse needs to be for your situation... good luck!!! Best, Ed, RN ps: even if it isn't an aerobic experience for you, dancing is a great way to tone muscles and build endurance, so it is still a great exercise regardless....
7 :
dancing is a great exercise to help loose weight

Freelance Writer Seeking Jobs

Freelance Writer Seeking Jobs?
I am a beginning freelance writer who has just started getting jobs. I wanted to see if any of you out there had knowledge of organizations, websites, etc. where I could advertise at no charge for my services? I can't really afford to advertise yet but I am an award winning writer and poet. If you have any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks! I am 43 years old with a degree in Liberal Arts. I have written short stories, am currently working on a novel and have won awards in poetry. Yet, it is hard to get a start in writing so I decided to freelance it. I was the Editor of my High School newspaper, wrote for my college magazine and have won several prizes in short story competitions. But I would like to ultimately have a business as a freelancer that is at least slightly lucrative. I write fiction, non-fiction, articles and poetry. I just finished a freelance series on time managment for a Canadian magazine. Also, I am a Certified Paralegal with extensive proofing experience (line by line). I used to work for Texaco's legal division writing and proofing legal contracts for the drilling of oil and gas. Additionally, I have written standard procedure for several organizations including a bank and a CPA firm.

you can write for me volunteer job if you like . I am editorial cartoonist
2 :
You might want to try Indeed, which searches jobs from across the Web and includes some freelance jobs: http://www.indeed.com/jobs?q=freelance+writer&l=&sort=relevance&sp=1 For advertising your services, you might consider Craigslist, which should allow you to post your capabilities for free. Best of luck, Jason
3 :
You did not say anything about yourself. How old are you ? Did you have any writing experience. What are the subjects you can write on. Do you have any materials to show your writing skills ? If you are new in this field, you have a rough road ahead. I suggest that you write free articles and reports to small local newspapers, magazines, etc. Then only you can say that you have published over 100 articles and " I can do something for you

I graduated 5 years ago...and still havent found the job i went to school for, is it too late to get that job

I graduated 5 years ago...and still havent found the job i went to school for, is it too late to get that job?
I went to school for computer animation in hopes of working for Nickelodean, I have applied endlessly and still have come up short handed. I feel that ive been out of school so long that these companies want fresh out of school kids instead of someone still looking and with a few freelance projects under his belt. Can anyone offer any advice on how to obtain a job in my field?

in any professional job you will have to continue your studies, so if your resume doesn't reflect that you're continuing your studies or specializing then you won't have a chance. In addition, you must be working in your field and if you don't have an employer hire you in that then start your own business doing your major. When you search for a job look at the description and ask yourself if you have all that they require. Then check to see who the references are that you are using. Normally people get their first job in the same company where their parents worked (because the parents are the reference) or where their relatives worked, or the family business was handed down, or where their sorority sisters or fraternity brothers are working (they pull in their sisters/brothers). Join some organizations and network, tell everyone what job you're looking for (doesn't matter the name of the company, right now you just need the experience
