How to break into freelance writing

How to break into freelance writing?
I've been writing for several years and was wondering how to find jobs/get paid for writing? I don't know where to begin looking for/getting jobs since everywhere I have looked seems to want experience before they'll hire anyone. This seems like a catch 22, since the only way to get work experience is to get jobs , and the only way to get jobs is to have experience. Can anyone please give me some advice? Thanks also, can anyone tell me about pay pal/ getting paid provided I do get any jobs?

For freelance writing, a most important 'experience' is the portfolio of your writing samples. Here's how you go about getting freelance work: 1. Create a portfolio of articles in your areas of expertise and interest. 2. Write a letter through e-mail to companies and or the editors of newspapers / magazines, expressing interest that you want to work as a freelance content writer and or to contribute articles to their publications. 3. Attach to the e-mail one or more of your best writing samples. If the company / editors like your writing, they will contact you. 4. Register for freelance writing work at sites like getafreelancer.com, guru.com, and elance.com 5. Create a website and put your best writing samples on it. 6. Submit free articles to sites like ezine.com. At the end of each article, include a bio and a link back to your website. Of all the types of freelance writing, freelance technical writing perhaps gives you the greatest income. Interested? Find more info at: http://tinyurl.com/techl-writing
