How do I find a job for someone like me

How do I find a job for someone like me?
I never seem to keep a job because I always settle for whatever pays the bills. Every time I get a job, all I can think about are all the ideas I have for something I want to write, paint, photograph, read, compose, etc. I always want to do a good job, but I can't help where my passion is and can't focus. I want a "creative/ right-brain" type job so badly, I can hardly stand it. Right now, I'm in school for my B.A. in Graphic Design. I have over a year to go. How do I find artistic (even freelance) jobs based on skill, not a degree. I don't even care if it's minimum wage, as long as it's intellectually stimulating. Is there a website w/ some information or ideas where someone can find a job that suits them so they don't dread going to work every morning; its a suffucating existence.

check the sourses of your inspirations. the books, photos. your locol book store should carry referance books called the writer's market ( list publishers and what they're publishing that year). contact them for free lance work. send them copies of your work.
2 :
This is a good site for freelance gigs, http://www.guru.com/index.aspx. Hardly ever are the gigs pending on degrees. It's all about the skill.
3 :
do your BA. look for job. get experience for few years. u will get briefing for the job and be asked to execute it. there will be comments, u will be asked to make changes because u are paid to do what the boss wants. earn your name and fame and start on your own. but u will have to run for business. it will not always com to u

When interviewer asks why I am leaving current job, will this answer be appropriate

When interviewer asks why I am leaving current job, will this answer be appropriate?
Hello, I am preparing for an interview tomorrow. Here's my deal: I was working at a place I hated for nearly 2 years (bad clients, disrespectful boss, no raises offered). I left it for a job I thought would be better but is not. I did not include my current position on my resume because I have only been here for 4 months or so, and it is unrelated to the job I am applying to. But if I get hired, I would want to give two weeks notice, so I was going to tell the interviewer that I am doing a freelance gig. If asked why I left my last job, I was going to say this "I left it because I found a freelance job as a marketing strategist, which is what I've been doing for the past couple of months. However, the gig is not turning out quite as I had expected. Moreover, it is not related to what I want to do which is what your company would provide." Is something like this appropriate?

It sounds good, but what if your caught out? maybe you should try another approach such as The current position I am holding with the past couple of months was neccessity to pay the bills while i searched for another job.? I know this isnt the right wording but you could improvise! Good Luck in the interview, Fingers crossed!!
2 :
Hmmm....you've made it complicated and it doesn't need to be. You may not know this, but when we call your previous employers...they can not tell us the "real" reason why you were released. All they can tell us is your job title, date you started, date your job ended and your job duties. So, you can tell them that the company downsized due to the poor economy and as a result you were released. If you don't want to tell them about your present job then don't. Just tell them you are not available to start working with them until 2 weeks after they notify you due to "personal reasons". Also, you never want to talk badly about your previous employers. There is no point in it and the interview really has no place to go with you complaining about your previous employers. The truth of the matter is...it's none of their business. We do ask...but you don't have to answer. Just tell them that the company downsized or changed management or anything other than complain about bad clients and disrespectful bosses. Because any place you go to work at is going to have the same issues and the person interviewing you knows this. So don't tell them that.

It sounds fine what you are saying. Just be honest about it

I think you are going to have to do it yourself, my friend, and the best people to help you get it right are the Tax Office themselves. They will tell you what you need to do. Incidentally, I would polish up my writing, too. There are a couple of errors in what you have written in your question! I'd also suggest that you have a good camera, too. I have found that some magazines will not even consider publishing you without illustrations. It's the way of the modern world, I'm afraid.
2 :
You need to ask the company whether you are being employed as an "employee" - in which case they should deduct PAYG withholding tax from your payments. Or if they are using your services as a "contractor" - in which case you'll need to get an ABN, invoice them and declare the income as business income in your tax return and wait and see if the ATO expect you to pay tax on it (as will be shown on your Notice of Assessment). If it is the latter scenario, you will probably need to see a tax consultant at tax time to explain the process and do your tax return with/for you. In the meantime, you can easily apply for an ABN here: www.abr.gov.au Do not register for GST unless you expect to earn more than $75000 a year from ABN invoicing as a contractor/self employed/business. You are not required to be GST registered with an annual turnover less than $75000pa. If your ABN is not GST registered, then you must write "invoices", not "tax invoices", and make it clear on the invoice that you are not registered for GST (i.e. write that at the bottom of the invoice and do not add 10% GST). The ATO are very helpful to people who are new to all this. Learn more from their website and give them a call. http://www.ato.gov.au/businesses/content.asp?doc=/content/25193.htm&mnu=35972&mfp=001/003 But if you are just a "casual employee" in the true sense, and not a contractor in business for these services, then none of that ABN and business stuff applies to you. Just ask the company - "am I expected to provide you with a TFN or an ABN

Official Job Title

Official Job Title?
Can any professionals tell me the official job title of a position which I am interested in? The job descriptions are as follows. I live in Asia. I would like to play a liaison role for some small business companies in the U.S. to help them at client site. For example, a U.S. company has a client in an Asian country, and both companies have business connections with each other. They contact each other by phone or e-mail. But, once in a while, they may encounter some problems that require someone in person to spend long hours discussing and dealing with. Because of the long distance between the U.S. and Asia, the U.S. company might as well hire someone at client site to help them with the detailed problems to save a great deal on traveling and boarding expenses. It's a freelance job. I wonder what job title this kind of position should be named. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated. Jin

There are a number of online freelancer sites that you can sign up for. Unfortunately most of them charge admission, but you can take a look. http://www.elance.com/ and http://www.rentacoder.com/ are two I have seen recommended on here.
2 :
don't know, but I'm after the same dort of thing so I'll monitor your answers.

Some people have had some success building websites, w/domain names and selling them on line (eBay). Check it out: http://business.listings.ebay.com/Internet-Businesses-Websites_Other-Internet-Businesses_W0QQfclZ3QQfromZR11QQsacatZ46689QQsocmdZListingItemList It seems to work together if it's turnkey with marketing and serving a specific niche (horses, lamps, cars, whatever, just specific) Slainte, -D

As John mentioned, there are many sites you can go to post your portfolio and bid on projects. Below are just a few.
5 :
First, you can join a group like Guru and post your folio etc. It is free to join, but if you live outside the US, don't expect to be able to bid on any work. The refined search on that site requires a country search, and even here in Australia it's empty. That means to get access to the US contracts you need to pay Guru. It isn't a whole lot, but it is a cost, and in your circumstances I'd figure that resource management is a high priority right now. Other sites are similar. Alternatively there is the possibility that you could work with local businesses as they rebuild, help with advertising and so on. Money won't be flooding in, but you could gain some serious customer loyalty later on, and the option of having your business name on anything produced for them will let people know your work. Just an idea, I don't know the situation on the ground like you do. Can you offer other services? What could you do other than graphic design? The reason I ask is that as an adjunct you could set up some small niche operations, all yours, and set up a free webpage for each. Be your own customer. Each page would be clearly marked as having been designed by you. It's a path I'm taking. I realise not many local businesses will see it for a while, but it is still a form of advertising/self promotion. Anyway, best of luck. Rebuilding a life is never easy, whatever the cause

become a writer! join the military. I dk ...dont u know what careers come from ur major. My friend works at McDonalds and says its hiring, but hes also a drug dealer so if u cant find a job...
2 :
Yeah, finding a job with an English Lit. degree is very hard. If I understood right, you want to be a preschool teacher? There should be opportunities in that field. It doesn't pay much but that's why there should be openings. Check with local job agencies or the state employment office. You may find something through one of those. Good Luck

Go to the library and check out the "Writer's Market." Buying the book can be rather expensive. This book contains magazine, book, literary, etc. publishes across the United States. There is a UK version as well. There are "Writer's Market"s specifically designed for novel and short story writers and poets. Look up the local publishing companies in your area and submit your resume. It can't hurt. Also, check out freelance job sites. Send query letters to magazines and script publishers. (You have to try more than one. The publishing industry is cut-throat.) See if you can turn your script into a novel. Look for internships to gain more experience in the writing field. Almost every company needs writers. It may not be the type of writing you want to do, but it will be experience and a paycheck. PR firms need press release writers. Look for grant-writing workshops (high-paying industry). Business to Business publications are very popular even with the economy dropping. (These are magazines you won't find at the book store.) For freelance sites, check out DemandStudios.com, WiseGeek.com and Factoidz.com. Factoidz allows you to publish on any subject and you pick the title. After 30 days, you retain the rights to your articles and can submit them to other sites or publications. The site offers up to $10 per 1,000 views and a monthly activity bonus that grows exponentially. To bypass the application and writing sample, use this link: http://factoidz.com/earn-revenue-now/9M19768. Check out MediaBistro.com and JournalismJobs.com for additional job leads. Also, look into staffing agencies in your area. Often proofreading companies will do the temp-to-hire route. Staffing agencies can direct you to these positions. If you're a creative writer and would like to start an online creative writing group, maybe you and I could find other creative writers and review work. It might help us all get our novels/screenplays/short stories published. Good luck
