Whats a good job for my friend who just graduated college?
She has an associates degree in art-graphic design. She has a strong portfolio for graphic design and fine art. She also is an intermediate at webpage design and has knowledge of html and css. She is only 24. Would a high school graphic teacher be appropriate, freelance, working for a company or what? Whats best? Is freelance a terrible option?

Freelance is great for building up a portfolio and indeed a name for yourself but its not secure - the industry in general is massively competitive - it can depend entirely on where you are located too. If her portfolio is as strong as you say, just send it off to as many design, print, photography and advertising companies as you can find and see who responds. Your main aim in the current climate is to stay employed - gaps in your CV are picked up on, especially in an industry that is often over saturated. Failing that: companies - at least in the UK where I am - are also offering less permanent contracts so the best option from my perspective is to find an agency specializing in IT and just take whatever contracts they can get you
