Are there any free websites that offer work for Freelance Writers?
I'm a writer looking for a little extra work. I've been surfing, but only seem to find sites that want to charge a fee. I can't justify paying $30 a month to apply for a job that only pays peanuts and w/ no guarantee that I'll get it. I can write editorials, short stories, poetry and the such.

Your best bet would be to sign onto an agency. Your agent can then look at your personal strengths and weaknesses and use those to your advantage. Check out the Writer's Digest for magazines (I don't know the exact name, but look up Writer's Digest and you'll see about six of them.) Straight up Websites that do that for free are going to be incredibly rare and will only pay a minor price tag ($5 a pop or something inconsiderate like that.) You may also want to look into attending a few writer's conferences. Go with a load of business cards and have at it. The Complete Idiot's Guide to Getting Published has a great list for the larger conferences. I hope this helps.
